Early in 2025, Transport for London workers noticed six drones descend into the Holborn underground Station. Travelling at great speed, the drones flew over travellers and commuters relatively unnoticed. This was probably due to the time of day (rush hour) and that most travellers on the Underground are used to keeping themselves to themselves without paying much attention to their surroundings. Including flying drones, it would seem.

Despite not showing up on the Holborn Underground Station’s CCTV, a few days later maintenance workers in Holborn's underground tunnels have seen six drones performing what appeared to be reconnaissance on the tunnel’s infrastructure. Having hovered in a tight tandem formation, examining the walls and track, the underground maintenance workers said that they then appeared to enter into a bizarre mating ritual – ducking, diving and weaving between one another before flying away at great speed.

It was only last month when Transport for London staff noticed the drones again. This time they had apparently doubled in number – with twelve drones now being seen. After flying at great speed towrds the workers, they stopped and hovered above them before performing a ‘loop the loop’ and then flying upwards towards the ceiling they conducted a ‘stall turn’ before flying off again at great speed down the tunnel – with the distinct sound of “Na na na nah na ...” coming from the drones as they flew away.

Where did the drones come from ? Is it the Russians ? Some form of alien ‘Red Arrows troupe’ ? Or pesky kids ?

“I’ve been working on the Holborn tracks for years. It can get pretty dark down there but we definitely saw something”, said Easten West a track maintenance worker. “The weird rituals the drones were doing in the tunnels was enough for most of us to leg it out of the tunnel.” “They’re having a laugh !” chipped in fellow worker Jack Haas. “Whatever they’re doing down there is nothin’ to be afraid of. They’re just mucking about ! The blind horse that used to live n the underground were a nightmare mind you.”
